Diesel Mechanic

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Diesel Mechanic to join our team and perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment including concrete trucks, concrete batch plants, loaders, and light-duty vehicles. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and technical skills, with a proactive approach to maintaining critical equipment used in concrete and construction operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on diesel engines and heavy equipment including concrete mixer trucks, loaders, skid steers, and batch plant machinery.

  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems.

  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure safety and operational efficiency.

  • Maintain and service concrete batch plant equipment (conveyors, hoppers, mixers, etc.).

  • Document all maintenance and repair activities accurately.

  • Respond to service calls in the field and perform on-site repairs as needed.

  • Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies; report shortages or needs to supervisor.

  • Ensure all repairs and services comply with safety regulations and company standards.

  • Operate equipment to test repairs when necessary.


Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in diesel technology or heavy equipment repair preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience working with diesel engines and heavy equipment.

  • Familiarity with concrete equipment and batch plants strongly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, hydraulics, and engine diagnostics.

  • Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus).

  • Ability to lift heavy equipment/parts (up to 75 lbs) and work in various outdoor conditions.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Safety-conscious with a high attention to detail.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience using diagnostic software/tools.

  • Welding and fabrication experience.

  • EPA certification for refrigerant handling (optional but a plus).

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
