Diesel Mechanic
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Diesel Mechanic to join our team and perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment including concrete trucks, concrete batch plants, loaders, and light-duty vehicles. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and technical skills, with a proactive approach to maintaining critical equipment used in concrete and construction operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on diesel engines and heavy equipment including concrete mixer trucks, loaders, skid steers, and batch plant machinery.
Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
Maintain and service concrete batch plant equipment (conveyors, hoppers, mixers, etc.).
Document all maintenance and repair activities accurately.
Respond to service calls in the field and perform on-site repairs as needed.
Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies; report shortages or needs to supervisor.
Ensure all repairs and services comply with safety regulations and company standards.
Operate equipment to test repairs when necessary.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in diesel technology or heavy equipment repair preferred.
3+ years of experience working with diesel engines and heavy equipment.
Familiarity with concrete equipment and batch plants strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of electrical systems, hydraulics, and engine diagnostics.
Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus).
Ability to lift heavy equipment/parts (up to 75 lbs) and work in various outdoor conditions.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Safety-conscious with a high attention to detail.
Preferred Skills:
Experience using diagnostic software/tools.
Welding and fabrication experience.
EPA certification for refrigerant handling (optional but a plus).
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
